Aquiles Báez

Aquiles Báez is an extraordinary Venezuelan musician guitarist and Latin American strings player, arranger and composer. He has an innovative style using Latin American rhythms and sophisticated harmonies creating a unique sound.

Báez, with five records of his personal work, has also collaborated with artist such as Paquito de Rivera, Farred Haque, John Patitucci, Ilan Chester, Mike Marshall, Giora Feidman; and has appeared in concerts with the Ensamble Gurrufio, Worlds of Guitars, and the Boston Symphony, Simon Bolivar, and Bach Academy Orchestras. Other projects include: "Calle 54" a documentary film by Fernando Trueba, and Grammy nominated records by pianist Danilo Perez "Motherland" and "Central Avenue".

Báez's awards include: Premio Nacional del Artista best arranger of the year in Venezuela; William Leavitt Award at Berklee College of Music, and other awards for his excellence in theatre, film and dance scoring. Báez has toured extensively in Latin America, Europe, Japan and the USA.

He served as faculty member at Berklee College of Music and has conducted workshops and residencies at many other colleges and universities in the U.S. and Europe. Báez now resides in New York City from where he continues his international career.
